Senior Game Designer Role – Work in Germany with Visa Sponsorship!

Job Position: Senior Game Designer Role – Work in Germany with Visa Sponsorship!
Company: Sixteen Tons Entertainment
Location: Berlin, Berlin, Germany

At Sixteen Tons Entertainment, we don’t just build games; we build living systems. We’re currently looking for a Senior Game Designer who loves the “math of fun.” Whether you’re interested in architecting a brand-new title from scratch or steering the ship on our hit mobile game, EMERGENCY HQ, we have a seat for you at the table.

We need a generalist systems designer who lives and breathes F2P economies. You’re the person who knows exactly how to tune a reward loop so it feels rewarding, not exhausting, and you understand that a great economy is what sustains a game for years.

What you’ll actually be doing

You won’t just be writing docs that no one reads. You’ll be the architect of the player experience:

  • Own the Economy: You’ll design currencies, progression paths, and “sinks” that keep the game balanced.
  • Bridge the Loops: You’ll connect the core gameplay to the meta-game, making sure every upgrade, timer, and mission feels like it matters.
  • Ethical Monetization: We want players to want to support our games. You’ll design fair, player-first systems like passes and subscriptions that feel like a value-add, not a tax.
  • Balance & Simulate: You’ll spend quality time in spreadsheets, modeling progression speeds and A/B testing new ideas to see what actually resonates with players.
  • Collaborate: You’ll work side-by-side with engineers, artists, and product leads to get your designs out of the spreadsheet and into the hands of millions.

Who you are

You’ve been in the trenches of live F2P games for at least 4 years. You probably have a love-hate relationship with Excel (mostly love), and you’re comfortable using data to prove a point.

  • The Systems Specialist: You’re a generalist at heart but a specialist when it comes to balancing and economy.
  • Data-Informed: You know your way around KPIs and A/B tests, and if you know a bit of SQL or Unity, even better.
  • A Great Communicator: You can explain a complex economy shift to a non-designer clearly in English. (German is a nice bonus, but not required).
  • Genre Fan: If you love strategy, sims, or builders, you’re going to fit right in here.

Why join us?

  • Real Impact: You’ll see your work affect a massive player base almost immediately.
  • High Ownership: We’re a low-ego studio. If you have a great idea and the data to back it up, you’ll have the freedom to run with it.
  • The Berlin Life: We offer a competitive salary, 28+ days of vacation, and flexible hours.
  • We’ve got your back: If you’re moving from abroad, we offer visa sponsorship and relocation support on a case-by-case basis.

The Roadmap to Joining

We like to keep things transparent. Here’s how we’ll get to know each other:

  1. The Intro: A 30–45 minute chat to see if we’re a match.
  2. The Deep Dive: A 60-minute look into your past projects and portfolio.
  3. The Workshop: A live practical exercise (no “homework” assignments—we value your time).
  4. The Meet & Greet: Chat with the wider team.
  5. The Offer.
