The Data Team

Data is at the core of everything we do at Payrails. Our Data Team transforms raw information into actionable insights that drive decision-making and fuel product innovation. As we continue to revolutionize the payments industry, we’re seeking an exceptional Senior Data Engineer to join our mission.

What You’d Be Doing

Building the data infrastructure that powers everything we do. That means:

• Writing data pipelines that work (batch and real-time)
• Making sure our data doesn’t fall apart at scale
• Working with smart people across the company to figure out what they actually need
• Keeping our data secure and trustworthy
• Improving our tools and workflows
• Not babysitting code—building stuff that runs itself

You Should Probably Have

The basics:

• Built real data pipelines before in production
• Know Python really well (GoLang is cool too)
• SQL and databases (Postgres, Snowflake, BigQuery) don’t scare you
• Worked with Airflow or similar
• Understand Docker and Kubernetes
• Can explain technical stuff without making people’s eyes glaze over

Bonus points:

• Kafka, Kinesis, Flink—any of the streaming stuff
• Terraform or infrastructure-as-code
• Worked in FinTech or payments (you get it)

What matters most:

• You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder
• You actually finish things
• You’re cool with moving fast and fixing stuff as you go
