We’re Berlin Metropolitan School—an IB World School right in the heart of the city. We’ve got 500+ secondary students, 60 staff members from all over the world, and we’re looking for someone to lead the whole operation.

What We Actually Need

Someone who gets excited about education. Someone who can walk into a staff meeting and make people feel energized, not exhausted. You’ll be working with real humans—teachers who need support, students who need guidance, and parents who just want to know their kids are okay.

You’re not sitting behind a desk all day. You’re in classrooms, hallways, and meetings. You’re making decisions that matter and helping shape where this school is headed.

Day-to-Day Stuff

• Inspire and support our teaching team (they’re great, by the way)
• Lead curriculum development and make sure our assessment actually makes sense
• Hire amazing teachers and help them get even better
• Handle budgets, operations, and all the practical stuff
• Deal with Berlin Senate requirements (there’s paperwork, we won’t lie)
• Lead our IB, CIS, and NEASC re-accreditations
• Make sure everyone—students and staff—feels supported and heard

What You Need

• You’ve been a Principal before (at least 3 years, ideally somewhere with IB)
• You studied Educational Leadership
• You speak English fluently (German helps but isn’t a dealbreaker)
• You’re good with people—all kinds of people
• You can make tough decisions without burning bridges
• You genuinely believe kids learn best when they’re engaged and challenged
