Job Position: Senior Data Engineer Job in NZ with Visa Sponsorship
Company: Younity
Location: Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
We’re Younity, and we’re building out our data practice here in Auckland. We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer who’s done this before and wants to work on real, large-scale cloud data projects for enterprise clients.
This isn’t a job where you’re stuck doing the same thing every day. You’ll be working with Databricks, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric, designing and building data platforms that actually matter. Beyond the technical side, you’ll get to work directly with clients, help shape solutions, and mentor other engineers as the team grows.
If you like variety, solving problems, and working with modern tech, this could be a great fit.
What you’ll actually be doing
- Building and maintaining scalable data solutions using Azure and Databricks
- Setting up and optimizing DLT pipelines and Asset Bundles for complex data workloads
- Talking to clients to understand what they’re trying to achieve, then figuring out how to build it
- Implementing Medallion architecture and modern Lakehouse approaches
- Getting involved in pre-sales chats, designing solutions, and planning technical roadmaps
- Helping junior engineers level up and making sure we’re all following best practices
What we’re looking for
- Solid, recent hands-on experience with Databricks (DLT, Delta Lake, Asset Bundles—you know your way around)
- Proven skills with the Azure Data Platform (ADF, Synapse, Event Hubs, Fabric)
- Strong SQL and Python chops for data work
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep) and CI/CD pipelines
- You’re a problem solver who thinks before building—you like to understand the “why”
- Comfortable leading projects and mentoring others
- Bonus points if you’ve got Databricks Professional Certification (but not a dealbreaker)
Why join us?
- Great pay package: $120k–$130k Per Year.
- Flexibility: Work from home 2 days a week
- Room to grow: As the data team expands, so do your opportunities
- Cool tech stack: You’ll be working with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure—the good stuff
- Supportive team: We invest in training, certifications, and actually help each other out
- Visa sponsorship available: If you’re overseas and have the right skills, we can help you get to New Zealand through the Accredited Employer Work Visa programme
