About the roles:
We are looking for enthusiastic people who are interested in working in a variety of roles available in our glasshouse operations located in the heart of the beautiful NSW Northern Tablelands.
These entry level positions are a great starting point for a variety of opportunities in our team. Learn the basics before progressing to team leader or supervisory positions, or branching out into other departments or specialist functions such as maintenance, plant health, quality control, despatch, agronomy, supply, and administration.
There are multiple roles available:
Crop Work
These roles involve:
- Caring for our tomato plants (leafing, pollinating, twisting, lowering)
- Working in large Glasshouses with high humidity and warm temperatures (up to 30 degrees)
- Standing or walking for 8 hours per shift, with breaks
- Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck
- Working at heights (depending on task)
- Shifts are mostly rostered Monday to Friday
Picking
These roles involve:
- Picking our tomatoes
- Working in large Glasshouses with high humidity and warm temperatures (up to 30 degrees)
- Standing or walking for 9.5 hours per shift, with breaks
- Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck
- Working at heights (occasionally)
- Shifts are mostly rostered Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
Packing
These roles involve:
- Packing our tomatoes
- working in a big, indoor, 12-degree-cooled packaging facility
- Standing for 9.5 hours per shift, with breaks
- Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck
Nursery Hand
These roles involve:
- Planting seeds and grafting tomato plants
- Caring for our young tomato plants (crop work)
- Working in large Glasshouses with high humidity and warm temperatures (up to 30 degrees)
- Some tasks require standing or walking for 8 hours per shift, with breaks
- Some shifts may require repeatedly lifting from floor level on to trolleys
- Repetitive low muscle load movement of hands, wrists, arms, elbows, shoulder, neck

Hours of Work
The majority of glasshouse and packing house positions have a roster of 38 hours per week with acceptable overtime as needed.

Pay Rate
Current commencement pay rate for Crop, Pick, Pack, and Nursery roles: $27.08 per hour (Casual Level
About you
Successful candidates must:
- Have access to reliable transport to and from the work site
- physically fit with the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
- Be able to work in a warm and humid environment (crop and picking roles)
- Have an understanding of basic English (written and spoken)

Fruit Pickers Near Me in NSW Londonderry:
MADEC Australia is looking for 150 fruit pickers in NSW, Work is due to start in June 2023 with various intakes through to Mid December 2023 – assignments can be 3 – 9 months long. Usually, work will start at 7 am and finish around 2.30 pm. However, this may change from time to time. Weekend availability is also a requirement of the positions.
Depending on the tasks, the pay may be either hourly or piece rates. Payment is under the Horticultural Award 2020( MA000028), classification Level 1 casual Employee.
Please note that random drug & alcohol testing may be conducted.

Harvesting/picking of the fruit is done by hand, carefully placing it in harvest bags and then placing the fruit in containers. Ladders are needed to climb trees, one tree in a row. Applicants must be in good health. The work involves a lot of bending, lifting weights, climbing ladders, twisting, and gently turning the fruit on the tree. You need to bring your own transportation.
