Job Position: Fitter Machinists Jobs With Visa Sponsorship in Australia
Company: Fab2
Location: Lockhart, TX, USA
At fab2, we build everything from scratch. We design the hardware and software needed to make semiconductor chips, and we build the fabs, tools, and components ourselves.
The company was started by Sam Zeloof (known for making chips in his garage) and Jim Keller (a semiconductor industry legend for the past 40 years). Our production team fabricates the metal parts, operates SMT lines to build PCBAs, and assembles the tools completely in-house. We’re looking for hands-on, exceptionally talented people who love pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
About the Role
We are building a brand-new generation of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and we’re staffing up our production facility. In this role, you’re in the driver’s seat of how fast we can build these machines.
You’ll own the CAM programs and operations for our Haas fleet, which includes three UMC-500SS five-axis VMCs, one UMC-750SS, and two DS-30Y mill-turn lathes. Right now, our chassis cycle time is about 45 minutes per part. Your main goal for year one is to get that down to 20 minutes through smarter toolpaths, optimized tooling, clever fixturing, and solid documentation. That shift alone directly controls how many machines we can ship each month.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Running our Haas UMC-500SS (x3) and UMC-750SS 5-axis machines, plus our DS-30Y dual-spindle Y-axis lathes.
- Handling setup, first-article inspections, and in-process gauging.
- Loading tools using the Haas presetter.
- Managing the pallet pools on the UMCs for lights-out production.
- Setting up bar feeders and changing over materials on the DS-30Y.
- Reading prints and holding tight tolerances on stainless steel and aluminum (usually around $\pm0.005$”).
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 3+ years of CNC machining experience, with at least 1 of those years working on 5-axis machines.
- Control Fluency: You know your way around Haas controls (or comparable Fanuc systems).
- Skills: You can easily read GD&T, inspect your own parts to print, and comfortably handle offsets and program edits right at the machine.
Nice-to-Haves
- Programming experience in Mastercam, Fusion 360, or HSMWorks.
- Experience with Renishaw probing.
- Familiarity with bar-fed lathes with sub-spindles (like the DS-30Y or ST-25Y) and mill-turn/live-tooling.
What’s In It For You (Benefits)
- Full Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
- Visa Sponsorship (we support international candidates!).
- Generous PTO, sick time, and paid holidays + Paid Parental Leave.
- Life/Disability insurance and a 401(k) plan.
- Weekly learning and development opportunities.
- Commuter perks (parking and late-night Uber rides).
- Free food! Daily lunches, dinners 3x a week, and a kitchen stocked with snacks and Spindrifts.
