We are seeking an experienced and skilled Market Gardener (Fruit) to oversee and manage fruit-growing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of fruit production, ensuring high-quality yields and sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organise, and oversee all farming operations related to fruit cultivation.
• Prepare soil and implement effective planting, irrigation, and fertilisation strategies.
• Manage pest and disease control through sustainable and industry-approved practices.
• Monitor crop growth and implement measures to optimise yield and quality.
• Harvest, sort, and prepare fruit for sale and distribution.
• Manage and maintain farm equipment, tools, and infrastructure.
• Coordinate and supervise farm workers, ensuring productivity and compliance with safety standards.
• Develop and implement business strategies for efficient farm management and profitability.
• Keep up to date with industry regulations, market trends, and sustainable farming techniques.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of five years’ experience in fruit farming or market gardening.
• Strong knowledge of soil management, irrigation systems, and pest control methods.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Excellent organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to manage budgets and production costs.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations in farming.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with organic or sustainable farming practices.
• Knowledge of market demands and trends in fruit production.
• Familiarity with export requirements and compliance for international markets.
