What are the main duties of a Meals on Wheels Kitchen Volunteer?

Volunteers help label and pack hot and frozen meals, move trolleys to the pick-up location, and assist drivers with loading their vehicles. Some light lifting and walking is involved.

Do I need any prior experience to volunteer?

No prior experience is necessary. All volunteers receive onboarding, health and safety training, and support from the Meals on Wheels Supervisor.

What is the time commitment for this role?

Volunteers are expected to commit 2 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. Current openings are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays depending on the shift.

What You’ll Do

Show up at Sunnybrook Hospital at 9:00 a.m.
Label and pack hot or frozen meals with care
Help move trolleys of meals to the pick-up point
Assist volunteer drivers with loading their cars
Expect some lifting and a bit of walking—perfect if you like to stay active!

Who We’re Looking For

Kind, reliable, and detail-oriented folks
Comfortable with a bit of lifting and stairs
Interested in community and senior care
Must complete a quick police background check
