Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Team Lead, Product Experience & Design to join our digital team (Stantec.io) to help build meaningful digital products which make the world a better place for all of us.

Your Key Responsibilities
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our digital products. Reporting to the Director of Product Development, you will spearhead a dynamic team of UI/UX designers, driving excellence across five key pillars including leadership, experience, design, research, and engagement. Leadership, where your strategic vision guides the team and continuously improves skillsets. Experience, ensuring our products are intuitive, user centric, and differentiators. Design, bringing innovation and aesthetics together to create effective solutions. Research, conducting insightful studies and experiments to inform design decisions. And Engagement, helping foster meaningful connections between our products and users. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the digital future of Stantec and our pursuit of delivering innovation to create a better, safer world.
Leadership
Lead, inspire, and provide direction for a creative team of UI/UX designers
Responsible for team buildout and growth, incorporating new skillsets as needed
Promote awareness of UI/UX design and its effectiveness throughout Stantec
Design thought leadership by staying informed with current design patterns and continuing to progress our visual identity, design library, and creative processes
Communicating vision across the product portfolio to stakeholders
Lead meaningful workshops throughout product development including persona development, storyboarding, story mapping, wireframing, and more
Confidently presenting design prototypes to communicating and align vision across the product portfolio to stakeholders
Design

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the creative strategy: managing skillsets, resourcing, establishing processes, managing tooling, and setting the creative visionMaintain the design guidelines within a design system and help promote its adoptionCollaborate with team members to lead design and follow implementations through the development lifecycle for a variety of digital productsContinually look for new and innovative ways to visualize data to improve readability, contextualization, and storytellingBuild storyboards, wireframes, workflows, and high-fidelity design mockups to help communicate conceptsImplement best practices for designs centered around reusability, flexibility, and scalabilityWork closely with product managers and product owners to incorporate their ideas and feedback

Experience
Refine and enhance experiences across the entire customer journey from customer acquisition, to onboarding, to functional usage, to upselling and renewals
Deeply understand customer needs and how to craft intuitive workflows
Ability to understand existing processes, from legacy solutions or manual tasks, and how to automate and improve them
Understanding of the role of empathy in design thinking and how to apply that in the ideation phase of coming up with new solutions to solve customer problems
Research
Conduct user research via surveys, interviews, and by analyzing product metrics to understands needs and preferences
Curiosity to listen and comprehend complex technical challenges involving engineering, advanced science, information architecture, software development, and data science
Responsible for formalizing data-driven design and assisting product managers in analyzing product KPIs
Lead and inform teams in user testing and usability studies
Collaborate with stakeholders to define research goals and create research plans and experiments
Engagement
Help improve user engagement strategies from more effective user communication to better analysis of product usage data
Work closely with product managers to understand market needs and customer feedback
Strengthen the knowledgebase of competitors, personas, and customers
Interview customers to understand what compels them to love our products and use them often
Shape the way we collect and interpret customer touchpoints
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to uphold the brand and position it for future success
Knowledge of current design trends and when to apply or adapt them to improve user experiences
Proven design and communication skills to lead initiatives and express vision
Experience creating and following a design system
Proficient in design handoff and coordinating with developers and data scientists
Experience with Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
Understanding of modern interface patterns and libraries including Angular, Vue, or React is a plus
Understanding of Microsoft development tools and the Azure cloud environment is a plus
Experience with CSS and preprocessors is a plus
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of 12 years of experience

Salary Range(s):

  • $114,500 – $171,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
