Qantas Ground Services (QGS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qantas Airways and we’re responsible for providing ground handling services to the Qantas Group, including special assistance for Qantas customers. 

As a Commissionaire, you’ll be supporting customers at the airport who require special assistance. You’ll be equipped with training and skills to help our customers that need extra assistance feel comfortable to communicate their needs and work together to help problem solve any issues during their trip with the Qantas Group.   

Some of the tasks involved can include, pushing wheelchairs, assisting customers with their baggage, driving passengers to gates, and providing support to less mobile passengers. You’ll also operate communication aids and computer equipment as required, including radios.  

You’ll have: 

  • A current and valid provisional or full state or territory driver’s license 
  • The ability to work a 7 day rotating roster 
  • A passion for customer service 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Experience working with special assistance customers would be highly regarded   
  • Experience in a physical role, working within a fast paced operational environment 
  • A passion for safety and working within OH&S guidelines at all times 
  • The ability to work all shifts in our dynamic 24 hour, 7 day a week, rotational shift roster (meaning shifts will vary from week to week) 
  • Phrases like “sure, I can do that” and “how may I help you” are part of your everyday vocabulary
