We’re currently on the lookout for a motivated and hands-on team member to join our built environment division in Christchurch. This full-time role offers comprehensive training, ongoing support, and the chance to grow your skills over time.
About the Role
Your primary responsibility will be installing and inspecting battery-operated smoke alarms in residential rental properties—either during scheduled annual assessments or between tenancies. Over time, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn and carry out Healthy Homes assessments and other compliance-related services.
This is a Monday to Friday, 40-hour per week salaried position, with optional Saturday overtime available. You’ll be equipped with our tools and systems and receive all the training you need to succeed.

What You’ll Need
- Prior hands-on experience in construction, property maintenance, inspections, or similar (e.g., smoke alarm installation, telco tech work, insulation install, building assessor, etc.)
- At least 2 years of relevant construction or trade-related experience (required for visa purposes – this role qualifies under ANZSCO Level 3)
- Comfortable using smartphones and technology (you’ll be working from an iPhone)
- Confident English communication skills and strong time management
- Currently living in Canterbury and available for an immediate start – applicants outside NZ will not be considered
- A New Zealand mobile number (applications without this will not be processed)
- A full, clean driver’s license (NZ or international acceptable)
- Able to pass a drug screening and medical check for visa purposes
