Division of Cancer Services are looking for a Scientist Haematology Cancer Services to join their team on a temporary basis. The Malignant Haematology Scientist is responsible for the performance of a wide range of testing used for the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of malignant haematological disorders including peripheral blood progenitor cell transplantation under the supervision of the Supervising Scientist. The scientist is also responsible for the investigation of new techniques, under the direction of the Director of Clinical Haematology, Cancer Services, which may be applicable to the investigation of haematological disease.

About the Role:

  • Performance of peripheral blood progenitor cell harvest processing, including cyropreservation, storage and thawing for re-infusion.
  • Performance of routine bone marrow and peripheral blood investigations including the assistance with the collection of bone marrow samples, staining and flow cytometric analysis of those samples.
  • Performance of quality control procedures that pertain to the above investigations.
  • Adherence to the relevant NPAAC Guidelines, including NPAAC HPC Requirements and any other regulatory requirements.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Haematology, Cancer Services and the Supervision of the Supervising Scientist Special Investigations Section Haematology Department, Pathology Queensland, Princess Alexandra Hospital, investigate and implement new techniques and technologies for the investigation of haematological malignancy.
