About the roleThe Community Mental Health Acute Inpatient Unit (MHAIU) at South West Healthcare is seeking experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurses to join their team. The Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (MHWS) division provides best practice nursing care for consumers in a recovery-oriented model, encompassing both inpatient 24/7 and community outpatient settings. Collaboratively supported by Mental Health Community teams and the Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC), the aim is to provide excellence in care to the broader community in the South West region of Victoria.As an experienced RPN, you will work collaboratively with the MHWS education team, and the broader MHWS to provide and co-ordinate the delivery of professional development programs to support the development of a highly skilled mental health workforce. The CNE promotes the development of specialist mental health nursing skills and knowledge through the provision of professional development, clinical supervision and mentoring.Position overview.

  • Part time (64 hours per fortnight), Ongoing position
  • Warrnambool Campus
  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4
  • Salary range: $110,801.60 – $119,324.40 pro rata, plus superannuation

What you bring

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Post-graduate diploma in Mental Health Nursing or completion of a Specialist Undergraduate Psychiatric Nursing Program.
  • Ability to mentor, educate, and train mental health nursing staff
  • A willingness to undertake Certificate IV in workforce training is desirable .
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a thorough understanding of legislation, regulation, and contemporary practices.
  • Additional qualifications or experience in education and training are advantageous.
