Sanitation Lead Job Details:

This position supports the Sanitation Supervisor in directing work activities to maintain the cleanliness of the physical plant and equipment, including the building structure and process equipment, within cleaning time deadlines.

• Assists Sanitation Supervisor with maintaining the cleanliness of the physical plant and equipment.
• Instructs employees in work rules, methods, and procedures for assigned tasks.
• Monitors work activity to address problems, insure processing procedures, safety rules, and sanitation standards are followed.
• Disassembles, washes, cleans and sanitizes all production line equipment at the end of the production week or after a changeover to prevent cross-contamination of product.
• Cleans walls, floors, overhead pipes, and drains within the department using established procedures.
• Washes all utensils used for processing and mixing of products.
• Trained and certified to follow sanitation procedures for proper chemical solutions use, and proper concentrations so that it is not harmful to workers or equipment.
• Checks cleaning records indicating frequency, duration, temperature, concentration and use of final sanitizing product.
• Coordinates cleaning with maintenance & production for on time production start-up. Understands and follows the Daily and Master Sanitation Schedule.
• Performs duties designed to control insects within the plant.
• Cleans eyebaths and replenishes solution as needed.
• General housekeeping in warehouse and office areas (taking out trash, removing scrap, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping of the floors, cleaning up any messes or spills). Keeps the building’s interior and exterior clean and orderly.
• Follows all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and PPE. Reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition immediately to supervisor.
• Follows all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Processes). Monitors and corrects violations in assigned area.
• Supports product safety, quality and legality.
• Communicates Safety, Quality, and Food Safety policies to all employees. Ensures such policies are applied by all employees
• Participates in TPM initiatives.
• Follows all company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Work experience

• Ability to read, speak, and write English so as to assimilate, retain, and apply training in job functions and recognize and communicate problems and recommend solutions.
• Demonstrates good interpersonal skills, with strong personal leadership and communications experience.
• Ability to provide good work direction and training.
• Ability to address employee concerns and issues in a timely manner; resolves problems in a fair and consistent fashion.
• Able to make independent decisions within well-defined guidelines.
• Good computer, writing, analytical and mathematical skills. Able to complete required documentation.
• Mechanical aptitude to understand and effect equipment operation and basic maintenance for the job function described.
• Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Follow and understand color code.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. throughout the work day.
• Abe to lift and operate high-pressure hose/or steam hoses, C.O.P tanks and portable foamers.
• Models high standards of punctuality and attendance.
• Ability to converse in Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to wear company-provided uniform.
