Job Summary:
Our local butcher shop that focuses on regenerative farming is seeking a skilled and experienced Head Butcher to oversee all aspects of the butchery department. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about meat, passionate about providing high-quality cuts, and able to manage a team of butchers while maintaining excellent customer service.

The Retail Butcher will be a mature individual who will demonstrate the necessary qualities to perform this position with attention to detail and organization. The butcher will assist in performing specific daily butcher duties. Develop your CAREER with VG Meats!

Responsibilities:

• Assist customers with their orders and provide excellent customer service
• Cut, trim, and package meat to specification, ensuring high yields and minimal waste
• Develop and maintain product specifications for all cuts of meat
• Train and supervise staff to ensure consistent quality and performance
• Create cost-effective schedules and manage the day-to-day operations of the butcher shop
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
• Maintain relationships with local farmers and suppliers to ensure a steady supply of high-quality meat
• Work with management to develop and implement new products and services
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a head butcher or similar position
• Extensive knowledge of meat, including cutting, trimming, and packaging
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Red Seal in cooking or previous butchery position is a plus
