An opportunity exists for a Mechanical Technologist Co-op Student within our Winnipeg Buildings Group.
Your Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate should have a basic understanding of HVAC and Plumbing concepts as well as experience applying design solutions in a team environment. Specific duties will include:
Collection of pre-design information from sites or existing drawings
Assisting with design calculations and equipment selections
Assisting with preparation of mechanical specifications
Working in a team-based environment
Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in Revit and AutoCAD.
Organize and interpret engineering data to prepare clear and concise design drawings and technical documentation.
Work with Mechanical Engineers to ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team of a full array of Buildings Professionals from Engineers and Architects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
An interest in mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and sustainable building design/green technology will be considered an asset.
Building systems related courses/knowledge is an asset.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Detail oriented team player and the ability to work independently.
Comply with Stantec’s HSSE program, with a focus on safety in all aspects of your job.
Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent in related field, with availability for a co-op/internship
AutoCAD familiarity/experience is strongly preferred; Revit experience an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
