Heavy Equipment Assembly Mechanic Job Details:

Summary:

Responsible for the production, assembly and test required to produce all products including but not limited to Puller-Tensioner machines, overhead, underground, distribution, transmission and/or any other class of equipment manufactured as standard products & custom equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for the setup, assembly or production of component parts into completed units adhering to the bill of materials and production documents
  • Demonstrates fit up, installation of hydraulic and mechanical components, electrical wiring, plumbing, etc.
  • Responsible for reading blue prints and schematics, handling necessary materials and hand tools
  • Performs minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision
  • Inspects parts by using visual inspection, gauges, tape measures, check fixtures, or other inspection equipment
  • Performs a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision
  • Responsible to see that all company supplied tools used are placed into proper storage cabinets daily
  • Assist quality in testing and other efforts as required
  • Conduct rope winding as necessary
  • Assist and maintains acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping
  • Performs all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision

Sherman + Reilly is offering a $1,000 signing bonus for new employees. $500 will be paid after 90 days and $500 will be paid after 180 days.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty safely and satisfactorily using good judgment. Education:

High school diploma or general education degree

6 months’ experience in manufacturing environment

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Perform basic mathematical calculations at a high school level. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving root cause and corrective action analysis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The temperature in the work environment is uncontrolled, so the employee is exposed to both extreme cold and hot temperatures.
