We’re on the lookout for a Farm Coordinator who will lead across our Harvest department at our Berry farm near Corindi Beach, NSW.

About the Role

This role provides critical support to the Harvest Lead and Field Harvest Supervisors by planning, coordinating, and monitoring all aspects of the harvest operation. Key responsibilities include:

Planning and Coordination:

  • Developing and maintaining block picking plans: Collaborate with the Harvest Lead to create efficient harvest schedules, considering factors like fruit maturity, weather, and labor availability.
  • Supporting Field Harvest Supervisors: Assist supervisors in planning their picking order, assigning crews to appropriate blocks, and resolving any challenges they encounter.
  • Projecting fruit yield: Produce accurate estimates of daily, weekly, and long-term fruit yield to optimize resource allocation and track progress towards KPIs.
  • Labor planning: Ensure the required number of crews are available based on fruit volumes and harvest plans.

Monitoring and Performance:

  • Support the Harvest team: Assist crew members with any inquiries or challenges they face during harvest.
  • Monitor performance: Track harvesting progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback to crew members and supervisors.
  • Resource management: Ensure crews have the necessary tools and equipment to perform their tasks effectively.
  • Develop short-term resource plans: Allocate people and equipment efficiently to address changing harvest needs.

Quality and Communication:

  • Maintain awareness of departmental KPIs: Track key performance indicators related to cost, efficiency, and quality.
  • Monitor quality performance: Ensure crews adhere to quality standards and identify any potential issues.
  • Enforce quality management systems: Ensure proper procedures are followed, and necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Act as a point of contact: Answer questions and address concerns from Field Harvest Supervisors.
  • Provide feedback to the Horticultural team: Collaborate with the Harvest Lead to share insights on block performance, variety characteristics, and trial results to improve future crop management.

About You

  • Experience: Basic experience of coordinating the work of others (4 to 6 months). Sound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systems (7 to 12 months)
  • Qualifications: You will need to drive to between locations on the farm so a current driver’s license is essential.
  • Skill Set: Excellent at managing deadlines, accurate data entry, and proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Work seamlessly within a team and communicate effectively across diverse backgrounds.
