The Director, Clean Products, Supply and Trading, will be responsible for the strategic directions and management of the fuel supply and trading, profit & loss, risk management, planning and development associated with Delta’s Jet Fuel Self Supply operation. This role will lead the Epsilon Trading commercial arm and represent the self-supply team during the respective tender process. This role could also be responsible for heading the clean products commercial activity for Monroe Energy, including but not limited to its Jet, ULSD, and Gasoline production, Wholesale Marketing group, and its ongoing strategy around the procurement of its government mandated credits per EPA regulations.

  • The Supply and Trading is responsible for over half the +$11B in annual Delta Jet Fuel consumption as well as the +$10B in annual Refined Oil products revenue from the Monroe Trainer Refinery for 2022. The team manages these sales and purchases through daily trading, market negotiations, supply chain development, refinery sales optimization, and other means taking into consideration the supply demand fundamentals for the various products.
  • Head of Clean Oil Products will lead multiple business functions and is responsible for the strategic direction, value creation, team development and effective communication of the business drivers to senior leadership.
  • Leader will help develop and enhance the reporting and analysis metrics for the clean products group that that bring transparency and accountability to the Fuel Department. This tracking and verification of reported KPIs along with planning and budget forecast responsibilities will help build cross functional teamwork.
  • Generate and lead PnL activity for team, including physical, paper and asset optimization activity.
  • Understand and communicate supply and demand impact for PADD III, PADD I and European imports and help team position the book to profit from the swings.
  • Lead team that maintains the jet fuel self-supply locations that feed out of Monroe and ensure active participation in the Platt Jet e-window.
  • Protect Delta’s pricing interest against counterparties. Have a sophisticated understating of commodities pricing including basis and flat price movements.
  • Due to Delta’s unhedged portfolio, communicate with senior leadership the team’s physical strategy, market moves, pricing levels and inventory pricing exposure on its pricing lag and ultimately the fuel price vs OALs.
  • Have a deep understanding of logistical assts across the country, including the Colonial and Plantation network. Lead and communicate to senior management Delta’s position and plan during issues.
  • Managing the strategic exchange relationships, including bulk supply contracts. Work within Delta exchange accounting rules and find innovative way to reduce impact when needed.
  • Build and maintain a solid working relationship with Monroe and its leadership.
  • Partner with Monroe Optimization and help team with the monthly planning volume targets and pricing assumptions, including inter-month optimization changes based on fundamentals.
  • Help team navigate the logistical and production constraints for Monroe while leading the scheduling and operations of clean products.

Seek ways to help team expand the use the of jet from Trainer Refinery and its netback.

Lead team during unexpected outages, natural disasters, and pipeline issues.

Work with the Finance team to help explain results, cash implications, inventory, and market dynamics.

Stay abreast of changing government fuel standards, regulations, key trends, and help team provide analysis and communication to senior management.

Evaluate business development opportunities across the clean products spectrum, including renewables.

Ensure team meets the renewable compliance via commercial activity.

Work closely with Monroe personnel and Delta Lobbying efforts, where applicable.

Provide backup coverage for clean product traders and for rack supply on an as needed basis.

Ensure Wholesale team development and growth fit with the overall strategy.

Build and help develop the commercial mindset of the team. * Develop into an industry leader in Airline and Refinery Supply.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree in business, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in Contract Negotiations, Energy Management, Supply Logistics, Finance, or other highly analytical experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong history thinking systemically, challenging the status quo, and building value-based relationships.
  • Executive presence with strong analytical skills.
  • Go-getter mentality with a positive attitude that enjoys leading a team to solve problems.
