About the Role: * The Project Manager is responsible for managing capital projects and supply chain initiatives to meet the objectives of the business. In addition to this you will manage the engineering design, specification, procurement, installation and commissioning and hand-over of capital projects in alignment with site procedures. You will also be controlling the budget to ensure proper financial accounting and work with procurement to ensure cost and contractual arrangements are in place with suppliers.

  • Responsibilities will include the provision of project engineering support for the plant capital or retrofit projects and will have a process and packaging bias. You will be involved in all aspects of the project but will be hands on and primarily focused on the detailed engineering and execution phases.
  • You will drive for continuous improvement, identifying and implementing solutions that deliver innovation while working with, cross-functional teams to achieve cost, time and performance criteria business objectives.
  • This will require good judgement and the ability to demonstrate project engineering skills and experience; project management certification would be considered advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

Initiation and Planning * Generate and control assigned project briefs to ascertain preliminary design/project requirements and solutions are determined prior to costing.

  • Establish schedule of delivery of work and communicate to procurement / legal to ensure alignment with procurement and contract strategy.
  • Manage appropriate files and folders for projects within the Britvic shared area, including technical brief, PAR submission (Project Appropriation Request), contract information, notes from internal team meeting, BU (Business Unit) onboarding processes etc.
  • Work within the team, delivering key engineering activity the Britvic Early Equipment Management, EEM, process is applied.

Project Delivery * Ensure all engineering projects assigned to Supply Chain are managed and delivered in accordance with the ISO 9001 process from feasibility to handover.

  • Provide necessary leadership, planning and communication on your projects – while seeking the best possible strategic and creative outcome within the wider team and other key stakeholders through the appropriate governance forums
  • Undertake upfront planning of projects and identify OEM resource requirements in order to fulfil the technical brief. Once agreed be responsible for overseeing the project through to delivery to site across all areas.
  • Own and manage the project programme, making sure all project scheduling conflicts are resolved across all operational departments.
  • Own the preparation of requests for proposals and participate in the selection of consultants / contractors for the project.
  • Instigate effective procurement of OEM equipment, parts and service ensuring spend within budget.
  • Work in partnership with OEM providers, third party equipment suppliers, procurement and sites to ensure people and component parts are expedited to site correctly.
  • Establish strong ongoing relationships with key technical and engineering third party OEM’s to achieve required results.
  • Work in partnership with the production planners and site operational leads and develop commissioning plans to ensure contractual performance criteria is met within agreed timescales.
  • Plan and control engineering snag lists from point of first saleable product through to project handover.
  • Identify and action opportunities for improvements within the project to promote a continuous improvement culture within the engineering project team

Assurance * Ensure the project is compliant with Health and Safety legislative requirements as well as related Britvic standards.

  • Ensure all projects are executed safely on site with full contractor control and environment impacts assessed.
  • Ensure that as part of the project delivery all appropriate CI processes are incorporated as an integral part of delivery (ie EEM)
  • Ensure performance trials are conducted and report on progress
  • Ensure that as part of project delivery the corporate risk register is updated
  • Work across all functions to ensure that all quality processes, systems and policies are delivered and up to date. This includes CIP best Practice, HACCP, Quality Validation processes etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required: * Demonstrable expertise in delivering change programmes

  • Knowledge of wider relevant business practices (e.g. Marketing briefing process, manufacturing processes etc.)
  • Good knowledge & experience of Capital Engineering Procurement and whole life maintenance costs as part of the purchasing process
  • Great relationship management skills, strong influencing skills and negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of quality processes for manufacturing, product and packaging
  • Financial acumen – responsibility for £multi-million capital programmes
  • Excellent engineering knowledge of packaging equipment, process equipment, factory services and control systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes

Qualifications: * Relevant Engineering Qualification

  • Experience of working with FMCG projects withing the drinks sector
  • Experience of leading projects
  • Project Management Qualification is desirable
