JBS Australia’s Northern Division operates five strategically placed processing facilities as well as five feedlots across Queensland and New South Wales, with access to an extensive network of quality cattle. Our network provides the ability to meet the specific demands of various market segments with an extensive range of grain-fed and pasture-fed products.

About the Role:

JBS Australia’s Caroona Feedlot is a 24,000 head capacity feedlot situated on the Liverpool Plains, 35km west of Quirindi, North West NSW. Caroona Feedlot is currently looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join the team as Mill foreperson. The foreperson position is 2IC of the Mill section and is responsible for smooth milling and feeding operations. Working with the supervisor, responsibilities include logistics and inventory control of commodities, overseeing best practice in bunk management and feed delivery, feed mill operations and supervision of a dedicated team that operate 7 days a week. This role is salary & will work a 5/2 roster.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) supporting the Mill Foreperson in the following:

  • Supervise, coordinate, train and monitor team members.
  • Maintain team compliance with all JBS Australia policies and procedures, including: WHS, QA, Animal Welfare & Environmental.
  • Bunk management – bunk call and feed delivery.
  • Feed allocation and management of timely feed delivery (approx. 110,000 metric tons annually).
  • Maintaining accurate data and reporting.
  • Management, maintenance and hygiene of feed loading / batch box facilities.
  • Feedtruck and front-end loader hygiene, maintenance, and asset protection.
  • Logistical management, receival and storage of hay, silage and other commodities.

About you:

  • Proven leadership skills and supervisory capabilities.
  • Experience in an intensive cattle production environment.
  • Knowledge of computer driven mechanical production activities.
  • Mechanical aptitude, sound experience with heavy vehicles and farm related plant.
  • Strong administration inventory control and logistical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding of cattle health, wellbeing and drivers of performance
