About the Role

The role of Lecturer and Field Education Coordinator ensures provides students with quality and value-added education through the preparation and delivery of lectures and oversight of Field Education to facilitate student learning within a caring Christian environment.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Lecturing in agreed subject areas, and managing the teaching and assessment of units;
• Ensuring sufficient placement opportunities with non-government agencies, and government agencies (Federal, State and Local)
• Supervise and assess Practicum Placements / Field Education as directed by the Head of School and as per the assessment guidelines;
• Provide appropriate administrative support to the Head of School and other academic staff within the School to achieve efficient and effective operation of the School;
• Promotion and professional representation of the School and its activities.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, applicants must address the selection criteria below and attach their response as a separate document in the application process.

Qualifications and Professional Standing:

• Hold a Postgraduate/Masters and/or PhD qualification in relevant Social Work discipline
• Experience in field education either as a Field Educator (Supervisor) and/or Field Education Liaison Officer.
• Experience teaching in a tertiary setting.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Social Worker (10+ years desirable).
• Member or eligible to be a member of the AASW

Essential:

• Committed Christian, involved in a local congregation.
• A proven record of professional activities and ideally a record of research and academic publications.
• An understanding of current and emerging trends in education as a whole and discipline Social Work in particular.
• Demonstrated experience in building social work networks.
• Demonstrated high level of skills in written and oral communication and information literacy and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diversity and ability to work with students, staff, and administrators, including pastoral skills in mentoring staff and supporting students.

This full-time position is based in Macquarie Park.
