About the opportunity:

The Farm Manager’s main role is to ensure that all farm operations, financial objectives, and production is carried out in an ethical manner, efficiently, on time and within budget, and to the company’s standard.

The Farm Manager will work closely with the Regional Manager, Regional Operations Manager and Farm Management teams across all sites in Tasmania with a strong focus on efficiencies.

About the role:

The Farm Manager will be responsible for the following key areas;

• Building a sustainable operational farm team including irrigation, maintenance, harvest, horticulture, safety and administration
• Implementing benchmarking, cost tracking and savings strategies
• Reviewing the performance of staff with the aim to place the ‘right people in the right role’
• Scheduling of all farm activities with the farm’s operations team
• Taking a leading role in Annual Budget preparations and manage set production budgets
• Analysing production processes and liaising with other Berry Category managers for improved performance to ensure timely operations within budget

This is a fast-paced role within a well established agricultural business. This role is critical to the success of Blackberry production within the Tasmania region and leads a team of around 600 team members during peak harvest season.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have strong experience in a leadership position within an agriculture business with an emphasis on people, quality, yield and timing.

In addition, you should have the ability to:

• Lead diverse teams to success
• Focus on timely execution of activities to maximise quality, yield and timing within the budgeted spend
• Be diligent, responsive and reliable even during peak periods of operation
• Maintain attention to detail and a sense of urgency
• Take ownership of the performance of your area of the business
• Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
• Develop a strong positive culture within teams
• Use Microsoft Office packages proficiently
