Intertek, a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is looking for an Inspector to join our Agriculture team in New Orleans.
The team is a leader in assurance, testing, inspection and certification of agricultural commodities at every stage of the journey. With a deep knowledge of market conditions, trade flows, related regulations, and technical aspects, we assist clients with the important task of supplying the world’s agricultural needs.
Note that schedule can fluctuate, dependent upon clients’ needs.
Note that successful applicant must be able to report to work locations along the lower Mississippi River , between Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas, within 2 hours of being notified.
Under broad supervision, to render to customer’s commodity inspection services which are timely, safe, legal, ethical, and effective; to perform the necessary volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting which ensure that the customer receives an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of quantity and quality of material.
Duties
- To perform, by specified methodology, visual observation, measurement, and sampling of bulk or liquid commodities conveyed in barges, ships, rail cars, shore tanks, warehouses, silos, and other conveyances.
- Communicate and coordinate with terminal, transport, and Company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned.
- Monitor the availability of the supplies needed for the above processes, and to make any needs for such supplies known to the Dispatcher or Coordinator.
- Perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
- Organize and coordinate tasks so that services are rendered, and reports and samples are submitted, in a timely manner.
- Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
- Verify and communicate the results obtained, and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information.
- Carry out the above responsibilities, and all others which may be assigned, in a manner demonstrating support for and adherence to the Company’s Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Policy and Procedures, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and to exercise good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy in so doing.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to grasp basic mathematics concepts and be trainable in the practical aspects of the job.
- Physically able to perform assigned tasks. This position requires exposure to heights and confined spaces.
- A positive attitude and the ability for working and communicating with persons of diverse personalities and backgrounds.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record required
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to report to worksite with short notice
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays
- At least 1 year experience in an inspection related industry is preferred
