We currently have a position available for a Poultry farmer/Breeder Manager

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will be responsible for meeting all operational requirements on the Breeder network that are assigned by creating a cohesive team through mentoring, coaching, monitoring, effective/proactive personnel management with the underpinning values of fairness, inclusiveness and equity. By planning, administering and reviewing the farming processes, the Breeder Manager will optimise resource use and minimise costs whilst ensuring OH&S and quality standards are met at all times.

KEY DUTIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall Breeder operations, including (but not limited to) ;

  • Guiding and assisting Breeder Farm Managers.
  • Improving and developing procedures to better accommodate the Breeder network.
  • Co-ordination of all Breeder activities for the achievement of short- and long-term business objectives.
  • Co-ordination and organisation of work teams, scheduling rosters and training staff.
  • Managing records, interpreting results, and taking appropriate action to ensure that production of eggs is of the highest quality and standard to meet optimal performance.
  • Ensuring a safe and productive workplace that fosters teamwork and inclusivity.

Manage employees according to the production plan, report any significant deviation from plan with a supporting reason to the Breeder/Rearing Manager

  • Liaise with the Breeder/Rearing Manager on all matters relating to production farming as well the rearing, husbandry, practices which ensure the health and welfare of birds.
  • Control and co-ordinate all Breeder Farm activities for the achievement of short- and long-term business objectives and increased profit.
  • Lead in monitoring, reviewing, identifying and implementing processes to drive continuous improvement activities through the execution of best practice.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the principles of quarantine, vermin control and biosecurity of all Hazeldenes farming operations under their control.

Qualifications

  • Suitable certification or relevant experience

Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in poultry farming in a similar environment
  • Extensive knowledge of poultry farming practices
  • Understanding basic business systems and their relationships

Interpersonal Skills

  • Commitment to leading by example and getting the best out of the team through training, coaching & mentoring with the underpinning values of respect, fairness and equity.
