POSITION SUMMARY
Seeking an immigration attorney to play a strategic advisor role to enterprise-wide stakeholders regarding issues related to global immigration matters. In this role you will be a key member of the US legal team and will provide advice and counsel to ensure Embraer’s US immigration program is operating in compliance with all jurisdiction specific rules/laws/regulations. Will provide strategic and business-focused advice on a wide variety of immigration issues. As a member of the Legal team, you will partner closely with HR (e.g., Global Mobility, Talent Acquisition, HRBP etc.) and business orgs to ensure that immigration programs, policies and practices are designed and implemented with compliance and employee experience front-and-center. The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading and/or supporting an immigration program in-house/or at a law firm for a multinational company.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
- Partner closely with Global Mobility to prepare and file appropriate immigration paperwork (i.e., H visas, L visas, Labor Certifications, etc.) with relevant government entities.
- Provides strategic legal oversight and guidance in the design, assessment, and implementation of our US Immigration program, policies, standards, and processes.
- Provides legal guidance to ensure compliance and optimal service levels and case outcomes are in line with company objectives.
- Oversees legal guidance provided by outside immigration counsel to ensure compliance and optimal service levels and case outcomes are in line with company objectives.
- Ensures legal compliance on immigration matters and programs.
- Functions as lead in house legal expert for US immigration matters to ensure options/considerations/risks are appropriately laid out for stakeholders so they can to make informed business decisions while at the same time protecting the enterprise.
- Develops innovative, yet legal compliant legal strategies to complex immigration matters, and exercising excellent judgement to think big picture when providing legal support to various business functions.
- Partners closely with Senior Attorneys and HR to ensure risk assessments are conducted comprehensively to understand impact to the both the enterprise and its stakeholders.
- Closely tracks regulatory updates for US immigration law and overlays against current state of programs and partners with HR to understand what changes/enhancements need to be implemented to run an agile yet compliant US immigration function
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
- J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in immigration consulting on and/or administering corporate immigration programs.
