Job Title: Writing Consultant (03 Student)

Position Type: Non-Supervisory

Number of Hours Per Week: 12

General Statement of Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one with writers on every stage of the writing process.
  • Provide support at all levels of writing competency, including, but not limited to, topic organization, outlining, and style.
  • Assist writers with a broad range of writing projects, including essays, creative work, laboratory reports, research papers, cover letters for internship or graduate school, etc.
  • Work with writers who have a variety of needs, including professors, students who speak English as a second language, and students with special needs or circumstances.
  • Help the Director and others with administrative tasks and special projects.
  • Participate in professional development activities (self-evaluation, peer evaluation, professional development readings, etc.) and specialize in a writing subfield.
  • Complete independent tasks and projects during shifts without clients that contribute to the growth, development, and betterment of the Writing Center.


  • Students must take EN-410 class
