This posting will be used to fill one (1) permanent full-time position. This vacancy is with Continuing Care at Alexander Lodge in Dawson City. This posting will also be used to fill permanent and term positions that may arise in the care home and will establish a 12-month eligibility list.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Eligible for registration as a licensed practical nurse
  • Recently applied knowledge of nursing theory, practices and techniques
  • Experience gained in a long-term care environment would be considered an asset.

Desired Skills and Suitability:

If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

  • Ability to provide professional care for residents by promoting their physical emotional, and spiritual wellbeing;
  • Ability to provide leadership, coaching and training to members of the team;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills;
  • Excellent critical thinking, relationship building, and conflict management skills; and
  • Ability to operate across multiple levels of care and within a transdisciplinary environment.

Additional information:

Conditions of employment: TB screening, RCMP vulnerable sector check with security clearance, CPR C AED, Food safe (completed within the last 2 years), WHIMIS 2015 and Yukon LPN registration with medication administration upon hire.

Job requirements: Shift work, exposure to plants and/or flowers and/or second-hand smoke when supervising residents/clients; Exposure to animals, heavy lifting 50lbs and over; bending and exposure to latex products.
