Lathrop GPM is a full-service, Am Law 200 law firm with offices in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Jefferson City, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Overland Park, St. Cloud, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. This position is part-time (three days per week – with 2 days per week in the office), and is located in Kansas City.

The immigration paralegal assists with H-1B, L-1 and other non-immigrant petitions, as well as labor certification applications, immigrant petitions, and permanent residence applications. The paralegal will also draft correspondence and organize client documentation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Analyze case documents and prepare immigration petitions and applications for filing with the appropriate government agency.
  • Draft support letters detailing eligibility for visa classification and other immigration benefits.
  • Conduct research on immigration compliance and other issues.
  • Prioritize and assign cases, monitor workload and production.
  • Oversee status of cases through utilization of case management and billing systems. Run reports as needed.
  • Work closely in team environment and provide updates while building knowledge of Firm and client processes.
  • Learn procedural and processing requirements for various types of non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications.
  • Assist in the hiring and training of new team members.
  • Identify ways to improve team productivity and office-wide projects.


· Minimum 2 years of experience as paralegal in a business immigration practice.

· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or a paralegal certificate.

· PERM experience required.

· Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Zoom, and a document management system.

· Must be willing and able to work in the office at least two days per week.
