Job Overview

  • Support content development for internal communication channels (company intranet, Yammer, digital signs) and support content development for external channels (social media, company website, and PR and editorial needs)
  • Support content optimization by pulling metrics from internal and external channels to help track against KPIs and determine opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Support special projects and events – including project management, content and other communications needs (i.e. Earth Day volunteer event capture and communications for global distribution, open house events for employees and local stakeholders at new/updated Komatsu locations, trade show logistics and assistance)
  • Assist in corporate communications activities to support various areas of the business

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Write articles / stories for internal communications channels (company intranet – Komunity, Yammer, digital signs) and external channels (social media and website)
  • Post stories to the intranet
  • Repurpose content for digital signs
  • Publish content to digital signs
  • Post internal social media posts to Yammer
  • Update Komunity intranet site pages including designing or modifying pages, uploading content to new pages, uploading daily or weekly content (announcements, videos, press releases, cybersecurity tips, etc.)
  • Assist in gathering metrics for internal communications channels (intranet, Yammer) to analyze content success
  • Support the social media lead in managing social media channels including creating and posting content, monitoring content, pulling and analyzing metrics, and developing reports
  • Support special events at primary work location or other locations i.e. trade show preparation, South Harbor Campus tours and events (including developing signage, employee communications, guiding tours, other misc. on site support).
  • Media and graphics support

o Sourcing images for presentations and editorial needs

  • Keep content calendar up to date with internal comms content – in Asana project management system, other tracking documents
  • Manage special projects as assigned (i.e. Earth Day volunteer event image / video collection and coordination, capturing employee testimonials, assist with writing employee communications, etc.)
  • Website content support as needed

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field
  • Entry level experience in communications, marketing, or a related role in a business or non-profit
  • Exceptional writing skills for a wide variety of purposes and audiences. Loves writing, has a passion for words, and understands how tone and language selection can impact an audience. Any background in journalistic writing (preferred, but not necessary).
  • Experience with managing events or aspects of large events (not necessary, but a plus)
  • Highly organized with excellent personal time management and project management capabilities. Enjoys balancing competing priorities.
  • Technologically savvy; prior experience with digital communication channels including, but not limited to intranets, social media, digital signs and mobile apps.
  • Video editing (even on simple smart-phone videos) would be beneficial
  • Website experience (preferred, but not necessary)
  • Presentation or public speaking training (preferred, but not necessary)
  • Extremely comfortable in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Creative, with an eye for design
  • Naturally collaborative in small and large teams; Can also work independently and confidently without continuous oversight
  • Outgoing, curious, creative, ambitious; Passionate about people, organizational culture and engagement; able to develop relationships with fellow colleagues, leaders and key interfaces for the role
  • Speaking additional language(s) is a bonus (e.g. Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese)
